| - When I visited my sister in Pittsburgh last week, she and her boyfriend took me to Arsenal Bowling Lanes for 80's night.
Arsenal seems to have cool specials for every day of the week. On the night we were there (Thursday), they had unlimited bowling from 9-midnight for $8 per person. This was a great deal. We bowled four games each (and we could have bowled way more), so it worked out to $2 per game.
The bowling alley has a relatively small number of lanes (somewhere around 8-10), so there's a pretty intimate atmosphere. I appreciated that the bowling alley was smoke-free and that I didn't have to yell to be heard.
The DJ was definitely not playing the hits with regards to the 80's music (no Michael Jackson until over an hour into the set), but it was still enjoyable. Also, given that most people in the crowd seemed to be under 30, no one had any genuine nostalgia for the 80's anyway. I wonder when 90's music will be the new 80's music, you know?
The lanes themselves are really great. We didn't have a problem with any of the equipment, and the lightning was perfect. I actually bowled some of my best games ever that night, and I'd like to think it had to do with the good lane conditions and not just luck (it certainly wasn't skill haha).
They had a bar in the back, and it seemed like the prices were good (I wasn't drinking so I don't know for sure).
At any rate, we all had a great time, and I would recommend Arsenal to anyone looking for something fun to do in Pittsburgh.
