| - Definitely my favourite event in a long time.
Let me start off the the bad: I decided to wear some nubuck shoes and the gravel on the patio left a chalky residue on my shoes - it took a few beers until I stopped tip-toeing. I bring up this trivial 'complaint' as this is truly the *only* negative I have for an otherwise stellar evening. Nothing that a quick suede brushing as soon as I got home couldn't fix (even in my inebriated state).
I was amped up to check out new brewpub and Bandit far exceed expectations. First of all, the space and the large patio is grand and spacious. The area is very out of the way for me, but I will return (in some leather shoes) with a crew in tow and look forward to try more of their offerings.
At the risk of sounding like a beer snob (and they are even worse than coffee and wine snobs): with the craft and microbrew boom, most of the newer operations are 'craft' in name only and their beers and selections are bland and just pure hot garbage. Happy to report that Bandit is an exception to this.
The lager was solid but I preferred the Hassel-Hef - which surprised me as I typically dislike how citrusy hefeweizen typically are - this was well-balanced and still easy drinking (it is a hefeweizen after all). With my drink tickets, I decided to sample the IPA and double IPA - the IPA was solid, but that double IPA was so tasty and balanced and still sufficiently hoppy for this hophead. In fact, I stuck around after the event finished and grabbed a couple more double IPAs with a few other Yelpers on the patio. Yes, the event was that good - we stayed and paid for even more drinks.
If the warm crowd, excellent service, good craft beer, and nice patio on a nice summer eve wasn't enough - the food made it even better. That hanger steak with chimichurri and fried cheese curds were ace. In addition, in my traditional, lucksack fashion - I won the InstaGram photo contest and was gifted with 4 bottles of their session ale - gave one away to a true beer connoisseur and shared one with the SO already (who couldn't make it due to work and was mad jelly) and it's another winner.
I'll post the winning picture here - but I'm still shocked I won. There were definitely better photographers than I -- but then again, everything is coming up Johnson lately.
Thanks to Evelyn and Chantel for hosting and huge thanks to Bandit for hosting and the parting gift. Will definitely be back to speak way too loudly on your patio.
