  • Pretty nice gym, especially for the Champaign area since I was displeased with several other gyms I went to look at. The owners are very nice, and it seems they are always willing to help you save on memberships. Whether it be monthly specials they have going on, or just waiving certain fees, they accommodate very well for whatever situation you are in it seems. Gym offers pretty much all you would ever need workout wise. It can probably use a bigger selection of cardio machines, but it has the basics. Lots of smaller gyms like this also LOVE to skimp on the free weights, but I was pleasantly surprised that Evolve had more than enough of them. They have so many plates that you could never even use them all, and dumbbells range from 5-100lbs. Newer quality weights and benches as well. Very big plus. Another thing I love about the gym is that it never gets packed, so you usually always can get on whatever piece of equipment you need, but like I said, it's not a closet gym either. It's really got a wide selection of gear and equipment. Decent selection of classes to take to. (both free and paid ones) The gym is not perfect though and it's got some considerable flaws. Most noticeably is that lots of the cardio equipment does not work properly. Treadmills that won't turn completely off. Elipticels whose handles do not move. Treadmills where the inclines do not work. Some with broken tvs. (on the plus side each cardio equipment has it's own TV) The men's shower is also pretty disgusting if you ask me. It's pretty scummy looking and is in drastic need of being redone. I've also noticed that while the staff is pretty good at keeping the place very clean, there's often just a BO/sweat smell that wafts around the gym. They should definitely invest in some better ventilation as it can get quite stuffy in there. Parking is also an issue, so the gym would do well to invest in a parking lot for gym members. Still though, for being a small, cost efficient gym, they have more then what you would expect from a gym this size, and compared to some other gyms I've been to, my complaints are just more so petty rather than anything major. I definitely would give this gym a look, especially if you are looking for a gym with less crowds and all the equipment you need.
