Stripsteak was the bomb diggity, although I still say Craftsteak is my #1 steak joint in LV. Stripsteak is a very close 2nd though. Well my buddy and I decided to try Stripsteak since we didn't have the requisite number of peeps to eat the tasting menu at Craftsteak. Also it was good to try a different steak place in LV.
Well it's a very happenin' place. Crowded with lovely looking hostesses in short black dresses. Always a plus in my book :D Plus they had complimentary duck fat fries tonight with the trio of dipping sauces. Excellent start so far. The crab cake and romaine heart appetizers were ordered. Crab cake was decent. Nothing spectacular. The romaine heart was a bit too salty because of the overwhelming anchovies and cheese on it. Could have passed on that. As far as what we ate, my buddy had the special which was a 12oz American Kobe New York Steak while I had the 8oz American Kobe Ribeye Cap. The Ribeye Cap had more marbling that the New York Steak so there was definitely a more buttery feel when you chewed it while the New York Steak was meatier and lacked some of the fat. Both were exceptionally seasoned and grilled. Just remember to request light on the salt just in case it becomes oversalted. Dessert was the mini doughnuts which were crispy on the outside and slightly cakey on the inside. Dusted with powdered sugar, you had chocolate and caramel sauces to dip and a large scoop of caramel ice cream as an accompaniment.
The server was great and was always there to make sure everything was fine. The secondary server was quick to set up and remove our plates once we were done. Once again, water was promptly filled which is a plus. Also, the server confirmed what I heard about them slowly butter poaching their steaks until it gets to room temp and then placing it on the grill to cook further. Gotta love the butter.
