This place is literally for the birds. They take in injured raptors (eagles, owls, hawks, etc) and try to rehabilitate them to be released back into the wild. If they cannot be rehabilitated, the birds are homed at the Raptor Center and may be used in their educational programs.
My favorite raptors are the owls, especially the barn and barred owls. The Raptor Center has a cute commercial (look for it on youtube) featuring a barn owl.
Volunteers are very knowledgeable here. My last visit I witnessed a volunteer being trained to handle one of the birds. Pretty cool.
It was also interesting to watch the progress of the two eaglets recently birthed by two of the Bald Eagles. The Center setup Eagle Cam for this.
Many of these birds are found in our backyards and it is wonderful for kids of all ages to learn about their importance to the environment.
