  • Came here for a "cheaper" fine dining dinner with the BF. We walked alllllllllll the way from Imperial Palace to Excalibur and then took the Tram to Mandalay Bay, took us a WHOLE HOUR!!!! Under the blazing summer scorching sun. No doubt we took the taxi back HAHA. When we arrived to our 6pm reservation, we were shown to the lower level where the whole entire restaurant sits! Trippy!! We drank tons of water and then presented our $50 GC from restaurant.com. They gladly took the coupon. There was no snobbish service, but we were not shown the fancy electronic menu many people talked about :'(. They had already assumed that we weren't going to purchase wine from that menu -____-;. Well, fine. We won't order it then. HMPH. We'll just order from our cheap-o Wine Menu then. WHICH wasn't bad anyway because my BF enjoyed his wine a lot..... (GO CHEAP!!!) We ordered the seasonal prix fixe. $65/person. 3 Courses. Since there were the two of us, and the menu allowed only one person to choose ONE of the two. We were able to try everything on this menu. Here's my noobish review on the food: Bread: Got the Baguette and Bacon Foccacia. BACON FOCCACIA FOR THE WIN!!!!! NOMS!!!! Too bad it wasn't warm :T Arugula Salad on Crispy Miche Tartine, rhubarb compote, shaved parmesan cheese -I thought this was very refreshing, especially after a looooong hot walk. But the arugula started tasting really bitter after many bites. This is a pretty decent sized dish for the first course. The itty bitty extras on this dish complemented the salad well (like the strawberries and the florals) but still I couldn't handle the herby bitterness of it. So my BF happily devoured it, in fact, he actually loved the salad. Chilled Spring Pea Soup, rosemary roasted ham croque-monsieur - Honestly, we didn't enjoy this one as much. It's good at first, but then there was so much of it (big bowl) and we got sick of it. This soup is only for pea lovers, I'd say. My dad would hate this because he hates peas with a passion, it's quite funny. The croque-monsieur did save this dish a little bit because it was warm, toasty and yummy and complemented the soup well... but not the entire soup itself. We only ate half of it-at most. Grilled Cajun Prime Hangar Steak creamy bacon sweet corn, roasted green chilie aioli -Holy moly, this was probably the best dish here or in fact the BEST dish of mine and my BF's entire weekend in Vegas!! We ate a lot of good food this weekend too! Jeez the steak was SOOO tender and the flavor was just right!! You get the kick from the cajun seasoning so that was cool. And it sits on a bed of corn... and mashed potatoes?? I don't know what it was, but this dish was freakin' delicious!! I'd definitely order this one if it's still on the menu. Oven Roasted Wild Northwest Halibut preserved lemon and parsley risotto / lobster - This one was also VERY good. Didn't wow me like the steak, but this was so flavorful and the Halibut was so meaty delicious! You can definitely taste the lobster flavor and if you're lucky, there's a teeny lobster piece for you to enjoy too! What I liked is that there were a few veggie pieces in this dish. I wish they added more bc I love vegetables!! but the fish was REALLY good. Won't be disappointed. Bananas Foster Tiramisu Parfait, banana cardomom ice cream I LOOOOOOOVED THIS DESSERT!!!! I loved the spices and the ice cream was so soothing after a big meal. NOM NOM NOMS!!! This was the BFs but I just stole it from him hehehehe. Dark Chocolate Spearmint Bar, vanilla ice cream I ordered this one and MY IS IT CHOCOLATEY! No doubt, it was very good but I think this could only be ordered by absolute-chocolate-lovers and actually finished by them too. Petit Fours: Madeleine, Meringue, Shortbread type of cookie, chocolate, etc Delicious :) Overall it was a very good dinner. I don't mind coming back here again :)
