| - eat is a really cute, hipster spot for fresh, tasty breakfast and brunch meals. Located conveniently next to the Downtown Container Park, eat provides gorgeously plated and well-thought out dishes (mostly).
He got the huevos motulenos, which is a great menu option. This dish consists of two eggs over-easy with red & green new mexico chiles, black beans, peas, pico, feta, and sauteed bananas on corn tortilla. Vibrant, assertive flavors and nice presentation. The huevos motulenos is also a quite generous portion, as with everything else they serve.
I ordered the tofu scramble with mushrooms and home fries. His dish was definitely better than mine. I thought the tofu was a tad underseasoned, some salt and other spices would have made it less plain. Also, I was expecting tofu scrambled so that it actually resembled eggs; however, their version is actually cubed. I think stringy, egg-like bits would have made this dish more successful because the thinner, creamier texture would have soaked up any seasoning better. Still good, though could be better.
We shared the cinammon biscuits, and these babies were fantastic. The biscuits are smothered in strawberries and blackberries, which I loved. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the biscuits were thinner, and more similar to shortcake. Worked really well in this dish, and again, really beautiful plating.
Looking for an American breakfast with a twist? eat is a great choice. Overall, the food is delicious and service is good. The ambiance is also lively and cheery.
