I have been a fan of Grazie for quite some time as I live very close by and I absolutely love their pizza. My family and I go there and order out quite often, but after our last visit I don't think we will be back, unfortunately.
For the first time, I ordered a cheese platter - I was just in the mood. When it arrived I was a little disappointed - but the hard parmesan was good so I ate a little of everything. That's when I noticed mold growing on some of the cheese. A light bluish/tinted fuzziness that one would not normally catch if they were chatting with someone and enjoying a glass of wine. I was so shocked. I literally got this queezy feeling in my stomach like I was going to vomit. I mentioned it to my waiter who questioned me for a second, looked and took the plate. I informed him I didn't want another one and he took it off my bill. I honestly thought a manager/owner was going to approach me and say something like "I'm so sorry for what happened, rest assured I'll be checking everything in the back and please your meal is on us!" type of thing. But NO! The platter was not mentioned after that. This was something unsanitary served to a customer and ingested by said customer! I'm literally getting sick thinking about it right now! The add insult to injury my knife had a dry piece of residual spinach/basil or lettuce stuck to it. Talk about unsanitary! Ugh...at the end of the meal (which we took to go) we got our bill minus the inedible cheese platter, paid and left!
Althought Grazie makes one of my favorite pizzas of all time, I will never again return. To me - this incident was unforgivable. I hope they will change whatever policy they have in terms of checking the freshness of their ingredients and produce. And they also change their policy on customer service in situations such as this.
