So I created a pep boys account and got on there to schedule an appointment. When making online appointments it requires you to select the year, make and model of the car. I have a '99 Mercedes ML320. All I was needing was a simple oil change.
I confirmed the appointment which was for 7PM on Saturday (I scheduled it at 3).
My husband and I showed up at 6:58( I refuse to go do anything involving car stuff alone since I feel I always get ripped off). There was no around when we showed up so I started to walk in and finally some guy comes out looking irritated. I said "hi I have an appointment at 7" all he said back was..."um at another location?" I said I i have the confirmation email and it has this location listed.
He then follows me towards the car and says well does your car have a dip stick?
Again I have no idea, I just take my car and get oil changes, no one no where as ever asked me if I have a dip stick.
He then proceeds to have difficulty opening my hood which they almost broke before my husband got out to open it for them.
They open the hood and say ya no there's no dip stick, we can service you. Have a good day.
At this point I'm annoyed, I didn't just throw a dip stick away, and comes out my car doesn't come with one, which they should have known if they looked at appointments booked and the car type.
We call another pep boys in Peoria who unfortunately was booked for the rest of the night because they actually had knowledge and said most Mercedes and BMWs you don't use a dip stick to check the oil level, because the computer tells you. All they had to do was it hook it up and see where the level was.
After having the conversation with the other nicer pep boys, we realized these men at this location obviously weren't in the mood to have an appointment their last hour and was just ready to get closed down and didn't want our business.
Not a very smart business move gentlemen.
