I love to go country line dancing. This bar plays fun line dances such as Caliente, men in black, and chill factor. I noticed that many of the simpler dances were played 5 times in the night. I don't care for that. I would rather have a variety of expert, intermediate and beginner dances played without all the repetition of the power jam and tush push (popular but simple line dances that were played 5 times in the night).
I noticed that some dances were played to songs that you wouldn't normally dance them to. I absolutely loved that. You can really get your groove on to a lot of the songs that were played. Country line dancing to a pop song is extremely fun. I guess I can attribute that to the DJ. It was really nice of him to play nearly all of my requests.
I would have really enjoyed Stoney's but the music was played so loud that the floor was shaking. I was wearing discreet ear plugs but the music was still deafening. It was impossible to communicate with people without saying "what did you say?" a zillion times. I found that there were some delightfully good looking men at this bar but I just couldn't hear them. On Sunday, after 2 nights of dancing at Stoney's, my ears were ringing and they felt kind of sensitive and painful. The music was just too loud.
Some of the line dances were unfamiliar to me so I was trying to learn them by watching the feet of the good dancers. The dance floor lights made it extremely difficult to learn the dances because they were way too bright and flashy. The lights hurt my eyes and were rather unpleasant. I would think those lights induce seizures in the epileptic.
The ladies room is lovely and clean. There are plentiful stalls so there is never a line and there are several mirrors to fix makeup and check that everything is in the proper place. However, I didn't like that there was a bathroom attendant. Bathroom attendants make me uncomfortable since they always seem to be watching you. I know, that they are watching you so that they know when to hand you a paper towel but I still find it awkward. I would rather get my own paper towel and take as much time in front of the mirror fixing my mascara without feeling rushed by the watchful (though polite) eyes of a bathroom attendant. I find that bathroom attendants take up space with the massive amounts of mints, beauty products and mouth wash lined up along the counter. These are products I usually carry with me in my purse and I wouldn't want to use a community hair brush or bottle of listerine anyway.
There is ample parking which I truly appreciate since I am coming from California to dance here.
I am definitely planning to go back to Stoney's to dance, I just hope they will turn the music down, reduce the flashing lights and let the bathroom attendant be a cocktail waitress. She would make much better tips.
