| - I've never made a review for anything in my life till now but my experience at Verona has warranted that I do to forewarn future residents or anyone considering to live at Verona Park Apartment.
My roommate and I had leased a 1 bedroom apartment and before doing so we had to sign a 20+ page lease stating all of their rules, regulations, and fine prints. None of the previous places that I have rented at would be more than 5 pages which goes to show just how micromanaged and scrutinizing they can be when it comes to them slapping you with ridiculous additional fines/charges or anything they can use to squeeze more money out of you.
-We were paying ridiculously high priced utility bills that weren't justifiable with living in a 1 bedroom apartment without a washer and dryer. Utilities would be in the 35-40+ range when we weren't always at home and usage was at a minimum.
-I was stung by a scorpion during the summer months while sleeping in my bedroom. I also saw dead scorpions out on my front lawn. Also, our outside storage room was filled with huge cockroaches, grasshoppers, and spiders which goes to show just how well they're controlling their insect infestation. Beware!
-There is not much privacy with thin walls and floors that creak with every footstep from your upstairs resident. There is dog crap everywhere even in the playground sand since no one seems to clean up after their pets. You can smell weed on a regular and I have even seen people smoking weed without discretion in the parking lots. And speaking of sketchy residents, I had dropped my phone while walking my dog to later call it and have someone answer but never to have my phone returned. My roommate had called me one night frantic and alert as she told me that someone had entered the house while she walked the dog and had stolen her laptop; so be wary as to always lock your doors! Who would want to live in an apartment with conditions like that?
This was reported to the office but nothing was done.
-We had paid a $300 nonrefundable pet fee which we were told would cover the replacement of the carpets. Only to find out at the end of our lease, that we would be charged an additional $40 for the shampooing of carpets which makes no sense since it should be covered under the pet fee. When we addressed this to them, they told us that there was a misunderstanding and that the pricey amount of $300 was only for financial security when it came to additional fees caused by damages from the pet. I believe it's way too many charges for a pet. Nothing was done regarding our complaint.
-They're fast on knocking on your door and leaving notices demanding payment. Like when they gave us a notice of $50 for washer and dryer when we didn't have any installed in our unit to begin with. There was also an instance that our rent was short of .08 cents and they continuously bombarded us with notices to pay the difference immediately or they would take action.
-Be prepared when your lease is up because they will find every single thing to charge you for and their prices will be outrageously expensive for cleaning, repainting, carpet shampooing, replacements, and slight damages.
Take all of this into consideration if you're planning on moving here. I wouldn't live here again after my experience and wouldn't recommend it either.
