  • For our first family trip to Vegas, we researched a long time based on the kids' priorities and ultimately chose the place with the most unique pool. The water slide through the shark tank sold us! Overall, I agree that this place has the potential to be a really nice hotel. It has the location central to the Fremont Street Experience and convenient to the Big Bus Tour and other shuttles. It has fairly decent sized, updated rooms. It reminded us a lot of being on the cruise we took recently. However, for every upside, there was a downside which has me still wondering if I'd return. We'd researched the best deals through places like Orbitz, hotels.com and groupons even and decided to go straight through the hotel site to book our room with 2 double beds for 3 people. We specifically told them we'd be checking in late and called to confirm - they assured me it'd be no problem. When we got there around 10:30pm we were told that there were no more rooms with 2 double beds so the 3 of us (pretty much all 3 of us are adult size) would have to sleep on a king-size bed. When we got to the room, the toilet seat was wet - and not flushed - and there was a rubber glove between the desk and the wall that hopefully was from the cleaning crew. While I understand that there was a big ball tournament in town which causes higher stress for all working at the hotel to turn over things quickly, I thought that was the reason for reservations. The hotel did say that we could check the next day to see if a room wtih a king-bed was available - which it was. While we paid the resort fee and totally appreciated the free water (although it was confusing because the water had a tag saying they'd charge us for it but apparently those signs are for people who don't pay the resort fee which I didn't realize was an optional thing), the thought of having to pay another $10 for coffee in my room wasn't cool. What hotel EVER has ever made you pay for coffee in your room? While the resort fee covered free internet - I don't believe wifi was an option. The pool and the huge tank in the middle is SO cool to look at and swim around and such. The wait isn't long for going down the slide and I was impressed that they had a lot of life guards posted. My daughter and I did have a fun few hours in the pool. The crowd at the pool kinda shifted with the sun and having the gambling tables right by the pool was fun to watch. The pool itself had a lot of hair in it. While that's just yucky feeling, I still wondered why this wasn't being caught by some super-sized filter that one should have when having a pool that size. The last thing that happened was that our daughter's phone got left in the room and we're 95% sure it was in the room that morning because we barely woke up, did a mini Easter egg hunt in the room and got ready to check out. I did call the hotel and the communication between housekeeping and security was a bit clunky. So, we returned to the room ourselves and gave it another once over re-checking under the bed and between the bed and the headboard (where we'd managed to lose and then find the remote) and saw the gal who actually cleaned out our room. It just seemed like I was getting canned answers and not truthful or helpful responses. Plus there isn't a connected network in place to find the phone. Since my "incident" was tied to the specific room, I also called in a few days later to report the loss more in general so if anyone happened to turn it in - if it fell out on our way to the elevator or something, then either way it would be covered. Overall, the staff was ok, but a few front desk folks had attitudes that I would expect to find in Beverly Hills or on the Strip VIP but not on Fremont Street. I will say, when I found the other check out tower in front of the huge fish tank - they were a GREAT example of what front-desk workers should be and do. Our Three thumb review is 1 1/2 thumbs up. My 10-year old daughter can't wait to go back. My 14-year old son liked the hotel but wasn't a fan of the pool and was a little let down that they didn't have wifi. I'm not necessarily eager to go back at this point. It'd have to be one heck of a Vegas deal to get me to visit their hotel again. At this point, I'm thinking that there are so many different types of place to stay, why not explore my options. #ThreeThumbReviews
