| - This was my 10th escape room and it is definitely one of my favorites that I've done, especially in Charlotte. I booked a room at Codescape based off of recommendations from looking at the Yelp Reviews. We did the Shipwrecked room after seeing great feedback from others, and having a couple in our group that weren't fans of being scared so Shipwrecked felt like the best fit.
Once you are inside the room, you really feel like you are on a ship! It was definitely the most elaborate room I've experienced in terms of the room itself! We had a group of 10, and I felt that was a little big (especially in the beginning we were very squished. I think having 8 as the max number of people would be helpful as I felt there were always 1 or 2 people that were standing to the side. The puzzles were unique, not just the normal locks that I've solved in other rooms, but more intensive games. We only received a couple hints, and the guide did a good job of leading us without outright giving us the answer. We had a ton of fun in the room and escaped with only 6 minutes left.
In terms of areas of improvement, the area outside of the escape room could be improved. The lobby area didn't have a lot of decorations or a separate room for introductions like I've seen before in other escape rooms. I also was a little disappointed that they didn't have an area or any props to take a picture, we had to ask and pose in front of the sign, especially since we were able to escape the room.
All in all, I was very impressed with the design of the room and the complexity of the puzzles. I would vote this as one of the best escape rooms in Charlotte!
