On Friday night, I went to Monterey Pub with some friends. We had gone directly after work, because we were hungry and looking to grab some beers. (We got there around 4:50 and the back part of the restaurant was already filled) - we were able to grab a booth in the bar area. Within ten minutes of us arriving - there was a line out the door to get a table.
We started with some beers - they don't have the best draft list, but I grabbed a Dale's Pale Ale. It was delicious. We also ordered the Buffalo Chicken Fondue as an appetizer to share. It was good amount to share with friends - but you'll need to ask for more pita chips.
For my dinner - I got the fried fish dinner - it comes with French fries, coleslaw, and a pickle. There were two waitresses that kept checking on us - but they didn't come over and ask if we needed anything once we got our food. Because the fish definitely needed some lemon.
My friend got the Chicken and Waffles appetizer- it was delicious. It was topped with bits of bacon, fried chicken, blackberry jam - with a side of maple syrup. Perfect for sharing.
Overall, I enjoyed my evening at Monterey Pub - it's definitely a locals place. It's in the heart of the Mexican War streets - and very welcoming. I'll definitely be back.
