  • My husband and I met as students at the University of Pittsburgh, and this had always been our dream wedding location. I am so happy we were able to get a date here and have our wedding in this impressive historic space. The current fee for a wedding ceremony here is $1500, or $1275 with the alumni discount, which you need to pay up front to reserve your slot. Given the level of service they provide and how special the space is, I think this price is very reasonable. And I was happy to contribute to preserving the chapel. It is possible to reserve a slot as much as two years in advance. We were able to get a time about nine months ahead of our date, though we had committed to planning our entire wedding around whatever date and time would be available at Heinz Chapel. With your reservation you get parking along Bellefield Ave for your wedding time, an organist, and a rehearsal with the organist. We also had visited the chapel ahead of time with family at least twice, and each time a staff member gave us a tour and answered any questions. The whole staff is *so* enthusiastic! For the rehearsal and the wedding, they give you a specific timetable, and you have to stick to it, because they are trying to accommodate many weddings. Right now they allot 45 minutes for the rehearsal, and we had access to the chapel from 10:45 am to 12:30 pm for the wedding (the ceremony started at 11:30 am). We had to hustle a bit to get out on time, but that was only because we had made arrangements for some mingling immediately after our ceremony. Our whole family loved having the wedding here: the beautiful stained glass, the dramatic live organ, and on and on. A very happy memory.
