  • I finally got a chance to see the inside of the Flato Markham Theatre as I attended their annual media launch for their upcoming season just over a week ago. I feel that what makes this theatre unique is it's ability to make a small space feel so massive. One of the performers I had the pleasure of seeing at the media launch mention in his brief speech, that playing at the Flato Markham Theatre was one of the few places that felt small enough to be intimate yet large enough to feel like you're in a bigger performance hall. I believe that sums up the FMT experience best. A little theatre with a big community heart. Recently renovated, the theatre has an elegant lobby with adequate space for milling about. And if you'd like a beverage to accompany you while you wait for your show (or while on break) they've got a great bar as well. With the winter months behind us, there is less demand for their coat check, however if the night is breezy and you'd like to shed your outer layer you can do so at their Coat check for only $1. The upcoming season appears to be heavily focused on acts and performers representative of the many Pan American nations coming to Toronto for the Pan Am games in 2015. From Latin and North America to the Caribbean and beyond. The song, dance and stories of the upcoming season look to be a cultural thrill for those seeking a refill of their tank. Excited for the upcoming season. You should be too!
