  • Open til midnight on weekends! That's worth 4 stars alone. Higher Ground is a fave. I've been here on dates, to meet friends for chat, to play chess, after ever Zombie Walk, to do some writing, to work on my laptop. I almost always order the Nut 'n' Honey Espresso with extra hazelnut. I loved when they had giant latte cups. Getting the wingback chairs near the fireplaces is the ultimate goal. Always get a good view of the door to scope on the incomers. I've had their breakfast burrito. It's not bad for a coffee house. They often have original art. They have a great newsletter. And the location? Well, who doesn't love the ever-charming Kensington. On a snowy night, it's a delight to sit in the window with a warm latte and watch the snow fall on the lit trees. Though HG has recently undergone some reno's to expand their seating, they are in dire need of recovering their chairs. They're starting to look a bit ghetto. It's ok tho HG. I'd never break up with you.
