  • You can throw a ton of superlatives at Encore, and I feel like they're all deserving. As much as Vegas prices have crept up over the years, there are very few places in the world where you can get a true resort experience for only a couple hundred a night. With a room at the Encore, you're getting the whole Wynn property, so even if Encore is "smaller," the facilities should be considered together. Encore's interiors are a burst of powerful red, while the Wynn flutters out with its floral array of colors. ROOM: Beautiful view of the strip, the King suite is such a well-designed space, as comfortable as home but as swanky as a hotel can be. Easily my favorite room in Las Vegas (12 different hotels to-date). You realize how little it really costs to move up from a solid Vegas room to something truly luxe. POOLS: Enjoyed the Encore pool, but that Wynn pool! Gorgeous. BUFFET: I'd say the best but I haven't tried a couple of the more recently popular ones. Crab legs are amazing, fresh, and worth the spend, but too many dishes are "just okay" in buffet dining, even at Wynn. Spice Market at Planet Hollywood is much less expensive and I've found a wider variety of tasty items there, but the Wynn space is so elegant that my memories of eating here are better. TERRACE POINTE: Worked very well for us as a straightforward and, as expected, lovely looking cafe with a nice view. Stopped in for a delicious french toast late one morning. CASINO: The action at the Encore tended to feel empty and quiet, so we usually gambled on the Wynn side, where things were usually more lively. Beverage service is nearly non-existent, my only true ding on the service here. So after praising all the facilities, their beauty and class, I do have to note that despite the spaghetti and bikini straps ingressing and egressing XS and Encore Beach Club, the overall feel here is a bit stuffy, definitely money, and there's more of a cocoon-feel protecting the property from the roughnecks carousing down the Strip. I happen to be one of those roughnecks most of the time, and I appreciate the energy of being right in the middle of, you know, Amurrrica. That's the beauty of Vegas, though, which keeps me coming back to enjoy its highs and lows. Encore is definitely a high, if not the high.
