| - This place flirts with friendly & snooty when it comes to the service. There's definitely room for improvement. In the 'information age' when EVERYONE can be your business critic, you might want to be nice to EVERYONE, even if they don't give you a tip. Here's a tip: BE NICE TO EVERYONE. Return business is where your income comes from, after all.
I believe in supporting local businesses, but I haven't been back to this place since my last snooty service because hey, at least Starbucks apologizes for making a mistake, corrects your order at no extra cost (or attitude) & knows to be nice to their customers so that they return.
First off, I like the coffee at Next and the surroundings are open. The open mic nights are fun and there's a good variety of clientele. It's very welcoming... Until you order.
The barista, who had also taken my order, SNAPPED at me when I asked about my drink (since I received my warmed food already). When I finally received it, it was a size smaller than I ordered. Instead of apologizing she defended herself saying that was what she THOUGHT I'd ordered and THEN she (grudgingly) made the correct size. She wouldn't even give me the one she messed up!
I WANT to like this place, but I feel little enthusiasm to recommend it. If not for the college across the street I'm sure they'd more than likely be out of business. I tip when people go above and beyond. I don't pay for someone to do the job they were hired for. If my business is only going to be 'tolerated' & I'm going to be made to wait 10 minutes for my drink with a bipolar barista snapping at me when I ask a question... hello Starbucks, goodbye Next.
Bad news travels faster than good news.
