| - Five stars for the drinks, three stars for the food, one star for the clientele
First, the worst part: there's a gross poseur factor. This is a place people to go to be able to say they went. "Oh, you've never been?" they'll sniff. If your tolerance for that sort of thing exceeds mine, it's a lovely venue.
Second-worst: they play the music so loud that everyone has to yell. Everyone except for the staff, to whom you're perpetually saying "I'm sorry. I didn't catch that." If you're looking for a swank place to take a date to whom you don't want to talk, this is the restaurant for you.
Second-best part: The menu is very limited, and for me it's sometimes hard to find something that sounds appealing. It ranges from adequate to quite good. The bacon-wrapped dates are killer (they're hard to screw up), and I often just order two of those instead of an entree. The portions are small.
Best part: You go here for the cocktails. Designer all. Yes, they're ootsy. They're also best in class. The finest Manhattan I've ever had, I had here. I can't remember the bartender's name, but he's an artist. He even conducts Manhattan-making classes.
