  • Squirrel Hill is a neighborhood about 10 minutes or so outside of downtown, Pittsburgh. It is a lovely area with large older houses and a main street. The people are super friendly and visitors are welcome. There are two of the best pizza spots anywhere in the Country there (ya, sorry NY). One is called Mineo's (established around 1958) and the other is Aiello's Pizza (established in 1978). They are the best and I can never decide which I like more. Try both. They are a few doors down from each other. Just park on the main street (Murray Ave.) and have a slice at one and then the other. Both have White pizza, which is to die for and traditional pizza. It is fun and you will have a great time. Also on Murray Ave, is a great Deli and some shops. Carnegie campus is near there and that is a nice visit, but do this: 1. At round 11:30 am drive to Murray Ave. and park. 2. Walk on over to Aiello's and Mineo's and have a slice at each place. The slices are big, so your lunch is now over. 3. Walk off the billions of calories you just consumed and walk the street. 4. Stop in the little stores that all line about a 4 block area. Say hi to people. 5. Go back to your hotel and take a nap, skipping Carnegie all together. Enjoy.
