| - There are good things and bad things about this hotel. First, I'll list the good things. The location couldn't get much better, and the price is lower than many other hotels on the strip. My husband and I loved being able to go right into the Margaritaville restaurant, located in the hotel. It has great atmosphere, food, drinks, and service. It's just an all-around fun place. The wildlife habitat is really peaceful and we enjoyed the koi fish, flamingos, ducks, and parrots. We also had a great view from our room and could see the beautiful pools below.
So now for the bad points. You know those beautiful pools I just mentioned? They were completely closed, so all we could do was admire them from the 22nd floor. It appeared to be one of the most spectacular pool areas in all of Vegas, and we saw many other hotel pools that were open and full of people, even though it was early November. For example, the Mirage, Bellagio, and Caesars Palace pools were all open and busy. If the weather is warm enough to sunbathe and swim, even if it's only for a few hours a day, the pool should be open. That was really disappointing. The outside of the hotel is under construction, which makes a really underwhelming first impression when you get there. If we'd known the place was barely visible because of all the work being done, we wouldn't have stayed there in the first place. Last, there are areas inside that could use some work. The carpets in the hallways of the hotel were nasty and dirty. The room was nice, but the overhead mirrors with light bulbs above the beds added a really cheesy touch.
I have read many reviews saying the check-in lines were terrible. We didn't have that problem and stepped right up with no wait. However, I will mention that at times during our stay as we walked through the lobby we saw huge lines. I have no idea how long the customers waited, but the lines looked like they could have taken awhile to get through.
