It seems I've had a very different experience from others at this shop - but it was what it was, so I'm writing about it. I was excited that there was a tea shop nearby in Scottsdale, so we set out for this place as our destination. When I entered the shop, there was no one there. After waiting 5 or so minutes at the counter a young girl appeared from the back. I was hoping to purchase a good amount of tea as I've been ordering online from a shop we had visited in Minneapolis but I prefer to try new teas after smelling the blends in person. The menu listed the teas but nothing about them except the type of tea - black, green, herbal, etc... The sales associate seemed bothered that I was there and that I wanted to smell a variety of teas (is 4 too many?) and ask questions before purchasing. I guess the number really wouldn't have mattered as she was miffed at my first request. Maybe I don't know the protocol but in the 4 or 5 other tea shops I've visited around the country, this is what they encouraged you to do so you could pick up the flavor notes of the individual teas. So I stopped asking and I ended up with 2 teas, primarily because I felt like I had to because I had put her out....but would have purchased a lot more had they been more accommodating and maybe acted like they wanted me as a customer. I will continue to keep ordering online and hoping that someone opens a decent tea shop in the Phoenix area.
