| - I've spent a good amount of time in here on two separate visits. While all the DAVIDs Tea stores rock my casbah, this one gets special points for it's friendly staff.
I'm still not sold on it being a concept store (as was described to me, "making DAVIDs Tea the Walmart of tea"), but, I do like that there's always "tea on tap". At the same time... I prefer loose leaf, and I can't see it saving anyone any real time to grab a pre-made sachet over a scoop of loose leaf. But, what do I know, I'm just a (nerdy, tea-obsessed) customer.
Still, there's something really light and lovely about this store. I've visited many a DAVIDs, I've spent hours in the one at Metrotown (Burnaby, BC) -- and this one is the most inviting of all the ones I've visited. The seats at the front overlooking the street, the staff, the feel... it's just perfect. There's nothing awkward about the layout (as there is in the DAVIDs at the Toronto Airport). It's just... a peaceful refuge.
Why not 5-stars? Hm, it's hard to say exactly. Maybe it's the higher prices of late, or that everything comes pre-sweetened. (I want flavored matcha that I sweeten myself!) I dunno. It's just not the 5-stars that I want it to be. That is, until I go somewhere that there isn't a DAVIDs Tea again. Then, I miss this store specifically.
