Oh happiness!
I have found my go-to French patisserie. Quelle chance!
I initially embraced Jules across the street as a decent neighbourhood option but Thobors puts them to shame... And with time, out of business?!
Not only is the food better here but so is the overall experience!
Wonderfully warm ambiance; a generous menu of baked goods, breakfast foods and light eats; and moderately friendly service (rather unFrench haha) that makes you proud to frequent a place.
The Pain au Chocolat- 4/5
Croissant- 5/5
Croque-Monsieur- 4/5
Quiches- 5/5
Almond Croissant- 6/5! Yes- out of this world
See mouth-watering pictures.
Don't fail to stop by. There is so much to try here (pistachio pin-wheels, banana-coconut croissants, des omelettes, des tartes et des tartines, the list goes on...)
And even though everything is made in large batches, I swear I taste une joie de vivre every time, in every bite.
But so far...
I RECOMMEND- the almond delicacy + any of the quiches. We enjoyed the mushroom and cheese and the bacon and cheese quiches so much!
EXTRA TIP- While I give Thobors 5 stars, there is certainly room for improvement. The pain au chocolat is better at Jules (more chocolate) and an authentic Croque Monsieur should be made on order (not pre-grilled)... with a runny bechamel.
But A for Effort!!! And A+ for authenticity!!
