| - This place is a pretty good Italian spot.
The food:
Mozzarella in Carrozza appetizer was fantastic. More cheese, less bread compared to breadsticks, which is a win. But what really made it shine is the home made marinara sauce. Some of the best marinara I've ever tasted.
I am a huge fan of clam linguine. I asked the server if he had any recommendations for me, and he suggested a spicy clam linguine that was absolutely the best clam linguine I've had (and that's saying a lot!). Definitely coming back for it.
The house special tutto pasta was quite bland for our taste. Would not recommend it. In hindsight, we should have ordered something with the marinara sauce- because it was fantastic on the appetizer.
Judging by our experience, and other yelp reviews, this menu is really hit or miss. So make sure you read the dish descriptions carefully, and when in doubt opt for the marinara dish (or if you like seafood, the odd menu clam linguine)
The atmosphere:
As good as it's going to get on state street. They did a good job giving a place an Italian feel, despite the difficulty of being on state street. The bar area is loud and cold in the winter (of course it is- it's by the door and they play the games, as they should). First floor dining is a bit crammed- but second floor is pretty good! Plenty of elbow room, quieter, with decent decor. They did the best they could with the space, and it turned out alright.
