  • I really like Whole Foods...great place to browse (assuming the samples are stocked...which is not always the case), and they have a fantastic beer selection (an even bigger plus to a PA native such as myself). Overall, though, its more of a "sometimes" stop as opposed to an "always" stop. The reason for that is mostly due to the prices...they are very high by any standard. There are exceptions of course, but even very basic items go for much higher than they would anywhere else simply because they reside on a Whole Foods shelf (organic or not). I like how they supposedly purchase from local vendors, but then again I see more "local" stuff at Giant Eagle, so I'm not sure what they are buying, exactly. Still, the staff is generally helpful, and the choices almost limitless. The prepared foods are never worth the price, especially the "by weight" items (buffet, etc.). Always tempting but never, ever worth it. The sushi, though, is probably the best grocery store sushi you will have ever (whatever thats worth), and sometimes the breakfast items they have can be pretty tasty. I did almost all of my grocery shopping at Trader Joe's, only stopping here (and Giant Eagle) for a few odds and ends, as the basics were available at TJ's for a much better price (with no drop in quality, fancy presentation aside). But they do have a well-run store and I liked coming here. Parking is a bit of a mess sometimes but you can't have it all, it seems.
