  • I use to go to this dentist regularly. He was super odd and the things he talked about were... different but he always seemed like a good dentist. He helped fix my front teeth and did a lot of things I thought were for my benefit. He also removed my wisdom teeth without putting me to sleep but only removed 3 stating that the 4th was tiny and not in the way of anything but I could have it removed later if I wanted. Here it is 3.5 years later and all the sudden I have this swelling and I'm in a ton of pain. Turns out that because that tooth wasn't removed as it should have been that it became infected to a point where I couldn't reach it. Meaning in my jaw. To make matters worse this tooth was growing past the nerve in my jaw. Today I sat with a different dentist because my insurance changed. I did some research and looked up reviews as fast as I could and made an emergency appointment. This dentist referred me to an oral surgeon who told me I now had no choice but to remove it and because of its proximity to the nerve I could permanently lose some feeling in my lip if the nerve is damaged upon extraction. He explained that there would be other options that are less damaging but because it's infected he would have no way of knowing how bad it was. Aside from this incident the dr koot had helped me get work done when I couldn't afford it and promised me payment plans. His office ladies were not on the same page and called me regularly and we not always kind. I don't want to destroy this doctors office. They helped me in a time of need but I have to give them one star when I found that the advice the was given tdoesn't line up with industry standards and that their equipment is outdated and utensils sometimes dirty because they aren't always new. They just steam them in a little cleaner machine. I think if the office and the doctor got with the times they could deliver better service to their patients. I think Dr koot is a pleasant man and his heart may be in the right place but telling me X-rays each year aren't necessary and that all my wisdom teeth don't need removed has caused me harm. I trusted this dentist and would have seen him today had my insurance not changed and if their office had opened earlier. I'm glad I didn't because I'm worried they would have just given me antibiotics and sent me home because he's not an oral surgeon. Bad advice for me today could have meant losing feeling in my face because of the placement of this tooth that would supposedly never be an issue. It was growing through my nerve and this dentist who doesn't like to take X-rays annually because it's unnecessary exposure missed it or didn't look close enough. For any dentist you go to look up reviews. Not all dentists are the same just because they have a degree. He may be great at doing cheap work if you're in a bind but you get what you pay for.
