  • Billing/Communication/Health DISASTER. I went to Arcadia to get some X-rays done of my spine in June 2015. I was establishing care at a chiropractic office, which was the reason for the x-rays. The chiropractor chose to send me to Arcadia rather than doing the x-rays herself, because she wanted digital copies of my x-rays and didn't have the ability to do digital x-rays in her office at that time. She told me that I would receive a CD of my images before leaving the x-ray office and asked me to drop the CD off at her office for review later that afternoon. The receptionist at the front desk took my insurance card and ID and made copies for my file. I made sure to ask if I would be able to leave with a CD of my x-ray images to take back to my doctor, and she said, "Yes, of course." I had to wait about 20 minutes before being seen, but I did not have an appointment. The tech who took my x-rays was very kind. I then spent the next 45 minutes getting a gazillion x-rays. There were literally 10 x-rays taken for each part of my spine, including my pelvis and sacrum (and with these views, you can't have the radiation protection blanket over your reproductive organs). So many x-rays were taken that I felt nauseated and sick for the entire rest of the day. The tech at one point during the pelvic x-rays FORGOT TO PUT THE FILM PLATE IN behind me, so I was needlessly subjected to a dose of radiation to my ovaries for nothing. She was very apologetic, but still. Not something that a tech should forget. I made a quip about how she would never make the same mistake again now that she's done it to a patient, and she told me that it has happened to her before. Geez. When I was checking out, I was charged $28.68. My co-pay for insurance is $15-20 even, so I assumed that this was the total cost for me for the day. My chiropractor told me that x-rays here would be inexpensive, but I was surprised at the low cost nonetheless. So surprised, in fact, that I asked the receptionist if that was the total charge. She said yes. I asked again, "So this is completely taken care of? I won't receive a bill?" She told me that I was paid in full. I then asked how long it would take for my CD of images to be ready. I was told that they would have to send the CD to the doctor the following day, because they were unable to transfer the film images to digital on that day. So, I was supposed to walk out with a CD to hand over to my doctor ASAP for her to review, and instead I was limping out with nothing but a promise that they would send a CD over to her the following day. Keep in mind, I was trying to establish care with the chiropractor because I was in excruciating pain and could hardly walk, and she couldn't treat me until she saw my x-rays and could verify what was causing my pain. So every hour that went by without that CD was another hour before I could receive the care that I needed. And the only reason I was sent there to begin with was because of the promise of a CD of images on the same day. If they couldn't do the digital images for me on that day, why wouldn't they tell me that when I asked BEFORE getting the x-rays?? I called the center the following day to make sure that they sent the CD, and they assured me that they would. When I finally got in to see the chiropractor, she asked me how much I paid for the x-rays. I told her, and she looked relieved. I asked why she was asking, and she said that SHE HAD ONLY ORDERED 2 VIEWS, BUT THE CENTER HAD TAKEN MORE THAN 40 X-RAYS! WHAT??? I was supposed to only have 2 x-rays taken, but instead I was dosed with a crazy amount of unnecessary radiation for no reason. And a good portion of those x-rays were taken of my low back and pelvis without the protective cover over my reproductive organs. THIS IS NEGLIGENCE. I was shocked to receive a bill 3 months later for over $100. They want me to pay for x-rays that were not ordered, that I should not have received, and for which I was told that I had already paid in full. They also never sent my bill to my insurance company to see if it was covered, even though they had a copy of my card.I took the bill to my chiropractor whose office contacted Arcadia multiple times regarding my bill and another patient's bill, who was in a similar situation. They had no luck getting a hold of anyone. I've contacted them twice during normal business hours over the last 6 weeks, and was forwarded to their voicemail both times. I left clear messages spelling my name, listing my phone number and account number slowly and clearly twice per message, and I have not yet received a reply. My chiropractor has had such a miserable experience with them over the last 8 months that she has stopped referring patients to them. If you value your health and sanity, steer clear of this place. I'm surprised they are still in operation at all. And if you have a negative experience here, please notify your doctors so they know to stop referring patients to this center as well.
