I had a tumor removed. I'm uninsured and low-income. I received a price quote prior to the surgery, and the quote included everything - surgery, labs, followup. When I had the surgery, suddenly, when I checked out, the price was $200 higher. I didn't have a choice, so I paid it. Now I just found out that they tacked another $100 on top of that because they "forgot" to bill for the lab fee.
The medical care was high quality, but the billing department is repeatedly rummaging around in the pockets of the poor. I'll probably be looking for a new dermatologist.
