I finally get to see what VTR had to fully offer last weekend! Seven of us arrived without reservation but fortunately a private party had ended early and we were seated in the back patio! I've been to VTR several times but have not been in the back room or its patio and this is where VTR separates itself from other cocktail bars. The back room is as classy as you can imagine. Comfy couches, beautiful wood work and of course live piano music. Through the backroom lies the patio. Nicely groomed shrubs and "turf" area to practice your putt putt skills. The patio is also semi-private surrounded by a brick wall and tall picket fences. The atmosphere was inviting and intimate. Being back there felt like it was some sort of escape!
I ended up ordering the "The Last Word" which is a mix of Plymouth gin, Green Chartreuse, lime juice and Maraschino liqueur. It was a very delicious yet, deadly drink. It's sour and sweet with the bitter kick from all of the liquors but was very smooth when going down. As with all the drinks here, its meant to be sipped over good conversations. As the evening progressed, rain started to pour, we all continued the night inside in the back room where we enjoyed a few more drinks. Inside, I felt like I was at some classy man cave, but without the distractions of flat panel TVs and pool tables. The atmosphere inside was just as pleasant.
Tip for those who haven't been to VTR, make a reservation for the back room to get the full VTR experience!
