  • I think it is very telling that most of the "great" comments are coming from newly diagnosed and most of the negative reviews are from patients more than two years. This parallels my experience. The ONLY reason this place gets two stars is because Dr. Harari and Melanie W his PA are indeed awesome. My initial visit with Dr Harari was totally five stars, he dropped several unneeded oral meds I was on and my numbers actually improved. Unfortunately I guess Type 2 diabetes is not glamorous enough to warrant a second visit with the good Dr. because in three years I have not seen him again. That's ok Melanie is also warm, competent, informed and cares about your treatment, still she's not Dr. Harari, the reason I selected E.A. I think when you select a doctor you should be able to see the doctor you selected. So two stars for two five star professionals because of their practice. When I call the office of Dr. Harari there is no method to get in contact with Dr. Harari, you are referred to his PA Melanie. When I call Melanie, there is no way to get in contact with Malanie directly, you are referred to her assistant. When I call Melanie's assistant there is not way to get in touch with her because in three years she has never answered the phone, you are required to leave a message, be screened at their convenience, and again at their convenience have a call returned or an appointment scheduled. The office does not seem to trust laboratories conveniently available throughout the Valley as they do all the required testing in house, at a premium and an extra 50 mile round round trip office visit for me. Their testing usually costs me near two hundred bucks out of pocket and I have incredible insurance, I can't imagine paying for it without it. Previously if I paid 20 dollars for lab work that was rare. But that is their prerogative so just be aware. The actual office visits are pretty much as has been described. If you go there regularly you will eventually experience an unreasonably long wait with no explanation, the office staff will treat you as if they are doing you a favor putting up with your inconvenient needs and interrupting their personal banter behind the glass. There will be extraordinary long lead times on non-routine appointments (those not scheduled every six months as part of your maintenance treatment). The office staff will be uninterested and uncaring about special circumstances and will not respond beyond what is necessary to keep the cattle moving through the chutes.
