| - This place sounded really interesting, but in all honesty it was just OK for me.
My friends and I came conveniently during HH hours (3-5p) which had some really great selections, but all of us ventured for other items on the regular menu anyway.
I opted for the place's prix-fix menu that gives you the option of one appetizer, one entree, and one "specialty" beverage (i.e. beer, wine, select soft drinks). I ordered the Soft Shell Crab for appetizer, Spaghetti Mentaiko Carbonara, and got Limonata Pellegrino for my drink. The Soft Shell Crab appetizer was probably the best part of my meal. It wasn't overtly salty, and deep-fried just enough to not be covered in grease. The mentaiko carbonara, on the other hand, was not so pleasing. This was a white sauce pasta dish with fish roe on top. The roe was great, but the pasta was way too rich for my liking. The cream sauce was way too creamy, and I got sick of it after a while.
My friends were also not so sold on their entrees as well. This place is commendable for their valiant creative efforts in bringing Japanese and Italian cuisine into one, but it was not my cup of tea. Appetizers were decent, and I would be interested to try other appetizers if I were to return again.
