| - I actually feel kind of bad. Our waitress was a gem and it really wasn't her fault, and I've been assured that this was an off day, even by her, but this place just missed the mark on just about everything.
We walked in around 1:30 on a Sunday. It wasn't busy by any means. A few tables filled, 5 or so people at the bar, and I think only 2 waiters were on the clock. The hostess seemed confused trying to find a table for 5 people, in the chaos of pushing 2 tables together (?!) she forgot to bring menus or silverware, which I noticed the couple next to us were also missing.
Finally our waitress came over to take out orders. Waters took some time to come out, so I should have noticed by that, that the rest of the meal may not go as I'd hoped.
We didn't order any drinks as we already had arsenal cider at home. But we did start with the country fried chicken livers, then ordered our entrees. 4 burgers, 3 of which were the blast pig and one farmed out, all rare, 3 with specialty fries (one of each) and a cluck house sandwich. My brother also ordered a side of macaroni and cheese.
So we waited, and waited, and waited some more until we finally asked someone to find our waitress as it had been about 45 minutes without us receiving our appetizer. She came over and apologized, comped the app, and finally brought it out. They were okay. I wish they had cut them smaller so the batter could have cut through the richness. The aioli paired with them were good.
After about another 25 minutes of waiting, all of our entrees came out. All 4 burgers were overcooked. And not by a little bit. 4 rares were more like medium wells. Not a spot of pink in a single one. I had the farmed out with a fried egg and the egg wasn't runny. Like, what's the point? The fries weren't even edible. 3 out of the 4 of us who ordered burgers, upgrades our fries spending another $4 on top of the already expensive burger, it was just insane. The blast big burgers didn't have the candied jalapeños which is mostly the point of ordering it, and my sisters pot roast fries didn't have those delicious onion straws that were supposed to accompany them. My chili cheese fries were just sad.
My fiancé actually enjoyed his cluck house (and for good reason, it was delicious) but his side of Brussels sprouts ($5 additional) left a lot to be desired. Weird, barely boiled, smelly sprouts that immediately brought you back to childhood when you hated them. Strange cheese sauce and burnt bacon didn't help either.
We asked for our waitress to come so we could tell her the problem with 4 out of our 5 entrees. She was sweet, told us she'd bring over the manager, and came right back. They comped our meals, gave us boxes for the food we wanted to bring back with us, and apologized profusely. But, the manager never came. I thought it was rude. Certainly not her fault, but embarrassing for the establishment. We tipped her quickly and left.
Between the manager not really caring and the fact that it wasn't busy brought it down to 2 stars for me. I really think it was an off day, and I'd come back on a weeknight next time I visit, but this situation just wasn't ideal.
