| - I'm giving this hotel an A-OK, but I think your satisfaction may depend largely on your personality. Be warned! This place is "hawking central!" If you're a person who can't look someone in the eye and say NO, if you cannot be rude with a dash of belligerence (as needed,) I would say don't stay here. There's a good chance you'll feel harassed and accosted, which is no way to have a great time in Vegas!
Pros:
Great room rates
Breakfast included (per stay - not per night)
Free Parking (expect to pay $30 elsewhere)
Players card (swipe your card at a kiosk to win free gifts)
Free flowing drinks
Sports-Book
Monorail (the station is on the side of hotel)
Sid's (a decent restaurant with a terrific Reuben)
Table games (they'll teach you to play and give you chips)
Slots (there's an area for non-smokers in the Sports-Book)
Free Wi-Fi (hotspot your phone instead)
Cons:
Timeshare Hawkers! (from check-in to check-out if you allow it...DON'T)
Merchant Hawkers! (just say hello, no thanks, and keep moving)
Rooms (questionably clean, take apart the bed to put your mind at ease)
Elevators (very, very slow - how old am I now?)
No coffee maker
Bar (quite pricey)
Casino (slot and table games area is small)
After reading the other reviews and horrible experiences, we made out like bandits! The Westgate is a place to do Vegas on the cheap. There is no "wow" factor. Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed. We used it as home base for a night, casino hopping via the Monorail and a trip to Fremont Street - then moved on to Mandalay the next day.
Again, the hawking can be pretty severe. Take care of your "weak links." They will need your help!
