| - Bobby Flay, you rock! I finally dined at MESA grill with friends and overall, I was very happy and pleased with the meal!
A few negatives I will get out of the way first -
I ordered two of the "signature" margaritas - Partida and a Don Julio Reposado. The partida was utterly boring and had no alcohol, yet this is one of their most popular drinks. The Reposado was better at least since it was just the don julio and mix. My friends also ordered a mix of drinks and they weren't the best and one friend didn't even bother drinking hers.
Now for everything that made this a great meal!
The entire staff we encountered - hostess, busser, and waitress - were all fantastic! Friendly, fast, and provided the best service!
We started the table with the goat cheese queso and red chile bbq duck. the queso was ooey gooey and rich with cheese! the peppers were roasted well but really had no big wow flavor throughout. the blue corn chips had nice flavor though and were warm, crispy, and fresh. the duck was amazing. tender and juicy with the crunchy cracklings and soft johhny cake.
For my main dish, I ordered the New Mexican spice rubbed Pork Tenderloin marinaded with bourbon and ancho chile and a side of a sweet potato tamale.
the tamale was alright, I kind of wish I ordered the plantain tamale as a substitute, but the masa was soft and moist.
Now this pork . . . WOW
ordered medium rare and cooked to absolute perfection! tender, juicy, cuts like butter, melts in your mouth like butter, oh so good and the spiced crust added so much amazing flavors but was not spicy or over done at all!
Thank you MESA!
