I came across Ken's Nails on Yelp and was super excited to try the salon based on the reviews and photos.
The good: The ambiance is really nice - the place is beautiful, open, airy and doesn't smell of nail chemicals in the least. It was a great extra touch to be offered bottled water and green tea. My technician was very friendly. Prices were reasonable.
The bad: It's been 3 days and my gel manicure is already peeling off! I have a gel manicure set at home so it's disappointing when I spend the equivalent of what the set cost me for a one time gel manicure doesn't even last a week. I would expect it to last at least a week - certainly longer than when I apply myself! Also my pedicure turned out very streaky. This was probably because of the color choice but it could have been avoided with an extra coat of polish.
Overall I would give my first time at Ken's Nails a 3. It earns the extra star because all my complaints are outcome related. I'll definitely try the salon again because of all the good points but probably opt for a different technician.
