| - My first time EVER at an all you can eat (AYCE) sushi place. I was not disappointed!
We walked in at about 5pm on a Thursday afternoon. The restaurant was fairly full but we only had to wait a few minutes for them to clear off our table (party of four). Arriving at an "in-between" time (late lunch, early dinner) turned out to be a good idea, because towards the end of our meal about an hour later the place was packed and there was a line.
The AYCE price was $26.95 per person for dinner (lunch price is only $21.95. Guess who's coming back for lunch soon?) The AYCE includes everything on the menu besides drinks. Appetizers, miso soup, grilled items, salads. Even dessert! Unlimited dessert! What. A. Deal. I seriously spent most of my time looking at the menu while I ate, trying to decide what I was going to order next.
My advice would be to order as many things as you want at once, because it does get busy and food takes a little while to come out. There's an hour limit on dinner, so you want to spend more time eating than waiting. Keep in mind, though, that they will charge for leftovers including rice, so only order what you can eat.
We tried a few rolls. I liked the one called Sexy Girl. Nigiri is delicious...get the ahi and the unagi because both are spectacular. Also, please be sure to try the pork belly off the "grill" portion of the menu, because it just melts in your mouth. Faaaaaabulous, dahhling. Like everyone says, the rice to fish ratio is great and you can get the 8 piece rolls in half orders so that you can try more things before you tap out. Everything tastes fresh and is well-flavored.
Other things we tried were the calamari, takoyaki, sashimi salad, tempura, crab roll, shumai (fried and steamed) and the rice cracker, not to mention practically all of the different nigiri on the menu.
For dessert we had the azuki ice cream, green tea ice cream (mochi and regular), strawberry mochi ice cream, yuzu sorbet (my first time having this. It's a citrus sorbet and it is very light and refreshing), and the tempura ice cream. Tempura wasn't quite crispy on that one but it was still good.
Bottom line: Get the AYCE and make sure everyone on your table has it so that you can all share. It is so worth your money. The wait staff is attentive and the atmosphere is casual, and you will definitely enjoy yourself whether you are a sushi snob or a fusion fan. It's quality sushi to your heart's content. Five stars, Sushi Goyemon!
