| - I came here around 9 or 10pm on a weeknight and the place was empty inside. Outside, nearly all the tables were full and there were doggos everywhere and this made me very happy. The misters blew in through the open doorways into a small, darkened dining room. My boyfriend and I opted for an unlit table inside the unoccupied indoor space. Secretly, I wanted to sit outside, but I accepted our loner status in the corner and inability to read the menu so as to appease the love of my life.
The service was great. The dude was really cool but he obviously got the vibe we were kinda chillin' doin' our own thing. We never needed anything; it was always provided before I knew I wanted it.
Started with the Viking Porter. Tasty. The server offered to let me try a sample of their house-made vodkas. I ended up trying the jalepeno vodka. It was incredibly smooth! Even boyfriend tolerated it and he does not like straight liquor. I ended up ordering a drink with that was made with lime and the house-made cucumber vodka. Simple and delicious. Boyfriend also had a mixed drink that was pricey but enjoyable.
I WANTED SO BADLY TO TRY THE BREWER'S BOARD. But every time we go to a brewery we order 8 million appetizers and then entrees and before we eat we drink too much beer anyway and then there's all this food leftover... so we didn't. ONE DAY THO, I WILL COME BACK FOR YOU.
OK. The Food.
I love ribs, so boyfriend really wanted me to get the Beer Braised Shortribs. Ribs don't do it for me as much anymore since I have discovered brisket, so I was leaning towards the Brisket Mac.The server was super cool and even though the ribs cost 10$ more than the mac he was like "Nah, you don't get a big portion of ribs and the mac and cheese is excellent." (this is more of a paraphrase than a quote). But then I was like, Mac Del Mar? And the server said yes so I got it and HOLY COW it was delicious. I could barely finish half of it and it pained me to leave it but I knew the leftovers wouldn't keep well. I definitely ate the entire generous portion of seafood, however. Crab and shrimp with cheese seems so wrong to me but it really, really wasn't.
Boyfriend got the Crispy Pork Belly. We've been watching a lot of cooking shows lately and the chefs are always salivating over pork belly so we've been dying to try some. The presentation was so adorable; it was all fancy. Didn't really notice the ~pineapple gastrique~ on the plate but it was very tasty. Did not disappoint.
The nostalgia-stricken tourist in my soul needed to buy 2 pint glasses on the way out. They were almost double the price that was listed but I didn't really care. They're neat glasses. They got fhat flavor lip ya'know?
