| - This was our third time doing an escape room challenge, but we're still not experts at putting two and two together! Haha
We came as a group of three and played with three others. Really cool experience if you wanna meet new people and get a feel of how well you work with others outside of your group. I think each room accomadates a max of eight people. Also, we paid $27 per person.
The game was a great brain teaser. The beginning was super slow but once we figured out one clue, it started picking up. We were soooo close to escaping . We only needed one more number. Sigh. Overall, the game and teammates were great.
The service, however, was awful. We were the last game of the night but that does not justify such behavior. This might be long.
First, we came fifteen minutes early and they were waiting on two more people, which is fine with us since our game doesn't start for another fifteen. They had us stand up anyway to learn the rules and told us to explain the game to the two strangers if they ever show up. Uhhh excuse me, that's your job. I don't mind doing it, but you don't have to be rude about it.
Second, after the rules were explained, the woman with the glasses quickly walked us to the room and barely explained the backstory of the game. She gave a ten second story, opened the door, and practically left. It was obvious that she was done with her shift.
Third is one that really ticked the whole group off. I can't describe the exact situation since it will ruin the game. All I can say is we figured out how to get to the next step of the game but the tool we used did not work even though we were 100% correct. After trying to figure out what was wrong for ten minutes, the woman comes back in to switch out our tool. She leaves and the tool still does not work. She comes back after another few mins and switches the tool again. It works. We lost valuable time because of their mistake and I tried to argue that we should have been given extra time. At least ten minutes. She told us that since we were doing better than average, time wise, that it didn't matter. Umm so since we were going quicker than average then it's ok that we lost valuable time and the opportunity to maintain more points? That doesn't make sense. What if we wanted to beat first place (if they even rank)? The time used towards fixing the tool could have been used towards figuring the rest of the clues a lot quicker. Maybe I'm a sore loser, but it just doesn't make sense.
Fourth, the attitude of that woman in glasses. You know what she said during the game when we had our tool problem "I know. I already heard you." After the time ran out, she came in the room and didn't even explain what we did wrong or go through the steps of the game. Even when we don't escape we can still look forward to an employee explaining all the steps at the end. We find enjoyment in knowing how close or how far we were from escaping. She only explained one aspect after one group member brought up a question.
All in all, super cool game. I would not recommend booking the last game of the night because you might experience the whole angry, maybe tired employee thing that is common near closing time of many establishments. Maybe she was turned off by my asking of extra time or maybe she just didn't like us. I don't know. The second employee, the young gentlemen, was courteous and took our picture at the end so there was that.
My apologies for the long review, but hope this helps.
