  • Tonight we made the mistake of not making reservations, for their 50% off sushi night. I will own up to that. But myself and two others showed up at 4:55 not thinking this would be a problem. Three cold hostesses informed us that they don't open until 5:30, and that they are fully booked. Having worked in the restaurant industry myself I completely understood the fact that they were fully booked on this night, again, my bad. They told us the bar top (5 seats) was open though, and to return at 5:30 when they open. We went to the bar at the W to order a drink. At 5:25 we walked over to the hostess stand. The first thing they said to us was that we couldn't take our drinks in. Fine, understood. But the tone again was not appreciated. Then we look and the 5 seats at the bar are FULL. I'm sorry, at 4:55 you told us we couldn't be seated until 5:30. And at 5:25 those seats are taken? I'm giving roku 2 stars because I know their sushi is good. Which is why we wanted to dine there. And again, I get that we should have made a reservation. But the ice queens at the front door coupled with the early seating when we were told we couldn't sit down, made us feel like we weren't worthy of sushi roku scottsdale.
