| - A new drink menu just opened today. This calls for a cocktail.
My server, Tommy, was at the ready with recommendations and a friendly smile. He was knowledgeable about the spice factor in both tacos and drinks.
Apps: ordered the ceviche but it never arrived. Not sure if the server forgot or just didn't hear me; or maybe he was distracted by my sweet smile. Either way, I'm kind of glad because with the hefty complimentary serving of chips and salsa, I had more than enough to eat.
Drinks: arrived after my meal but it was also put in after I ordered my food. Into dress the Serpent. A close replacement for a Moscow Mule, the cucumber and ginger fusion is a refreshing choice for a hot day. At $10, I'd be happy to have a second or third.
Main dish (Taco Apovada): I went against Tommy's recommendation for the Al Pastor taco (he indicated spicey and I'm kind of a whimp). The Apovada had my attention with the jicama salsa. It was good for sure (the Salsa) but was a smidge on the dry side. Maybe a touch more salsa would help or some type of a drizzle. The corn tortilla was thick!
Atmosphere: it was a little chilly inside but that is typical the warming AZ temps. Music was going, typical bar noise from where I sat. At 130 pm, the place was busy but not packed. Bar was full but I was sat quickly at a high top bar adjacent. I enjoyed the atmosphere very much. A fun place to have a lunch by yourself and people watch, work (as I was doing) or with a friend / date.
Restrooms: clean as a whistle after the lunch rush. This is always a good sign to me of a well-run restaurant.
Cost: a skinny girls lunch: $15.69 for one drink, one taco, and complimentary chips and salsa.
Side note: I was a smidge thrown off by the tweety bird plate but I'm all for keeping it light and reducing / reusing in this world!
All in all, definitely heck this place out for lunch or a post work bite! You won't be disappointed.
