Attention coffee lovers! Crema Coffee has opened their 3rd location and their second sit-in cafe on the Danforth! :D
After talking to Geoff (the owner of Crema), it took him exactly 2 months to haul-ass from signing the lease and opening the cafe to enthusiastic "Cremalonians" and new patrons in the neighbourhood.
The first thing you'll notice is their "garage-door" style window that rolls up to let in the cool summer breeze stream in throughout the cafe. It's very brightly lit throughout with mirrors at the front that make it feel the space feel a bit bigger than it actually is. At the back, they display art from local artists, which is a nice touch as well.
Since it was the opening day, Geoff spread a little "Crema love" by offering their awesome coffee on the house. I ordered a cappuccino and wasn't disappointed with the result, beautiful leaf latte-art with the frothed milk being in the ideal state - micro bubbles, nice colouring, and self-healing.
The feel and vibe is very similar to their Junction location as they hired the same contractors from 4 years ago.
For all of you coffee geeks, they've moved away from their usual 3-group Synesso Cyncra machines to the venerable 3-group La Marzocco FB/80 machine. As for their espresso beans, they're mainly sticking to 49th Parallel's Epic Espresso with some "guest espresso beans" thrown in once every so often.
Word has it they're also working closely with Andy at Te Aro to create their their own "Crema blend" .. so definitely watch out for that in the coming months.
East enders rejoice for another awesome cafe opening up!
