| - If you want to eat the best wings in town while having a beer/cider and enjoying either a sporting event or classic rock music in the background, this is your place! Buffalo Wild Wings and Wing Nutz have nothing on this place - honestly.
We were in search of a wing place that offered a variety of sauces, had a great atmosphere, was reasonably priced, and offered excellent customer service. Well we finally found the place. It is a little drive from where we live, but definitely well worth it.
The garlic cilantro and watermelon BBQ were my favorite wing sauce choices. I had an Angry Orchard cider and enjoyed the classic rock music and good company while he enjoyed his lemon pepper and suicide wings, pizza, and a cold bottled beer while watching the races on one of the many television sets near our booth. The wings are just how we like them - crisp, meaty, and flavorful.
Although we didn't go to Johnny Mac's intending to eat a pizza, our server made us aware of the numerous specials they have. Some are on specific days and some are grouped with certain orders. For example, we had ordered 5lbs of wings. So, he informed us about the Henderson Special that groups a large one-item pizza with 5lbs of wings for what amounted to about $7.00 more. We have no problem with leftovers with two teenage boys and thought for that price - why not! The pizza was also very good!
One of the things I personally enjoy about going out to eat is the adventure in meeting new people and having some friendly conversation with our good food. While there, a nearby employee hearing us question whether or not the restaurant used to be a car shop because of it's two garage-like doors near the entrance, came over and made light conversation with us. He told us that the restaurant opens those doors on nice days, but that there was a history behind the doors as it was not the original design. He showed us a picture on his phone of a car that drove right through the front of the building two years ago. He said after that, the owners took the insurance money and instead of rebuilding the wall, installed glass windows that open like a garage door. I looked at his phone and laughed as I saw this car literally sticking out of Johnny Mac's and told him that this conversation piece should certainly be framed and put on the wall - just a thought!
Anyway - we will definitely be back!
