It is a great way to beat the heat and definitely a lot of fun for the family. Do NOT count on the lifeguards to keep your family safe. We went to day which was the first day the park was open after an incident in the wave pool where an 8 year old was found unresponsive in the pool and is now in a medically induced coma. I expected lifegaurds to be at a heightened sense of alertness. They were not. In fact, my son had a bloody nose, there were 6 life guards standing under an umbrella, talking near the wave pool which was "closed for maintenance"today. I sent my daughter to them to ask if they had anything for her brother's bloody nose, they didn't ask where he was, nor ask if he was ok, or what happened. Instead they just told her his mom would have to go to first aid. (Btw, this was my first time ever at the park - no idea where first aid is located - thanks for the help!) I was ready to go by that point. Packed up our things and stopped at the pass processing area and asked to speak to a manager. A young girl said she was a supervisor and said she could help. I explained what had just happened and how unacceptable the response from the lifeguards had been. She radioed a manager from the "aquatics department" who oversees the lifeguards. He said he was on his way. I waited for 7 minutes and he didn't show up. I left and decided maybe they will have a better response if more people are aware of their lack of concern for the lives they are guarding.
