  • I had a bad experience at this bank, and especially this branch. I've been a small business owner in one form or the other for about 15 years. I was a little irritated with the big, national banks lately so being a long-time resident of the Las Vegas valley I thought I would try out a local/regional bank for one of my side ventures. Here's my story: I became sick for about two weeks and could not devote my attention to my account at this bank. I neglected to put in enough funds to cover one electronic payment to pay a bill owed to my credit card company. The payment was "returned" and my account was charged an overdraft fee of $35. Upon learning this I immediately paid my credit card bill with another checking account at another bank. However, the overdraft fee at my Nevada State Bank account brought the account into the negative range by about $2. Throughout the time I was sick my account was charged between $5 and $15 in fees on a daily basis. By the time I was able to go to the bank and bring the account balance back into the positive range I learned I had acquired $170 in various fees. I asked the teller to waive the fees. She said she had to get her manager. My case was put before a supervisor named Donna. Donna's manner was very brusque and rude. She refused to waive the fees or budge in any way, almost taking pleasure in the act. Our conversation lasted about 30 seconds whereupon I was given the number of, Susan Davies, who appears to function as the bank's complaint dept. It is her job it is to tell people to take a hike once the bank has bilked you. My conversation with Susan Davies lasted about 30 seconds as well. Before I closed my account I approached the new accounts representative, the one who so eagerly signed me up several years ago, and I told my story to her. She looked at me like I was from another planet, and in the middle of our conversation took a minute-long phone call from a co-worker. This bank touts itself has being a good, respectable, local bank that serves the small business owners of Nevada. Well, I am a small business owner and I just don't feel like they care about me or my business. Their fee structure is onerous in comparison to the other banks. It's their right to refuse my request to waive the fee. However, throughout the entire process I felt as though I was being treated like a second-class citizen. I felt like they were virtually kicking me out the door the moment I raised my complaint. It was as if they were doing their best to get rid of me. I do know I will never work with them again on anything, whether for a business loan, an auto loan, a credit card, or even a checking account. I believe that if a bank treats you poorly when addressing a very minor issue then they would also treat you poorly when handling big problems. This branch gets very little foot or vehicle traffic. I can see why.
