  • I want to tell anybody reading this a story; a true story that sounds so much like a fairy tale I should begin it with "Once upon a time.......". Like many people, I always research the source for repairs of any kind and to anything, I own on the web. Having done the due diligence I found Pro Brakes, which coincidentally is just a short drive from my home. Since I own an Acura TL which is now out of factory warranty, I know it can be pretty expensive to fix. The great news it has NEVER failed me. But even though it has been very reliable, scheduled maintenance is still pretty costly. Since I don't recall ever having replaced the brakes, I took it to Pro Brakes at the mileage when the owners manual says replace the breaks. I did this, having first stopped at the ATM for some ammo and 7/11 for snacks and magazines. Expecting the be there for at least an hour and expecting to spend about $400, I was barely into the first story in Sports Illustrated about the USC Trojans new QB when the owner broke the news to me, "this car doesn't need brakes; not even close. I mean I can change them if you insist, but you still have 30% on the front and more like 40% on the rear. You are good to go". Still shocked weeks later I felt compelled to write this review. These folks are honest beyond definition. They very easily could have done the brake job, charged me the quoted $400 price, and still retained me as a customer. But now I am extremely confident in both the Acura TL I chose to buy, and Pro Brakes as the source for everything regarding the maintenance to keep it running, hopefully, for a long time. We've recently replaced my wife's car because it began costing a fortune to maintain as soon as it was paid off; it was an Audi A4 which still appeared as nice as the day we bought it. But literally every other month something broke or a light cam on. When that happens in an Audi A4 you are pretty much forced to begin researching your next ride, because when an Audi starts acting stupid (even with impeccable maintenance records to prove EVERY scheduled service was performed), every time something requires a trip to the mechanic its $1,000. Now, to be honest, I had not discovered Pro Brakes for the Audi issues. European Motor Cars was where that hunk of junk went for service; and they, in my opinion, did more damage to that car than good, while still averaging $975 per issue. That is another story for another day. So we ridded our lives of 2 cancers at one time by trading in the Audi for a 2015 Subaru Outback and then we could jettison EMC along with it. Pro Brakes may have odd hours (being closed on Sat and Sun), but their work and fair pricing makes getting to them and using their services worth the extra effort. We highly recommend this company and will continue to use them for any services we need. Hopefully you will be as please with their service, conduct, honestly, pricing, and integrity as we are.
