  • Dr. Erickson has been my OBGYN for the past two pregnancies and I have managed to dislike his practices more and more. My first (with him) pregnancy he was very pushy about induction and did a lot of fear mongering on me. If I hadn't been as confident of a birther as I am, I would have let him do the unnecessary procedure. Further, he kept pushing me for induction, only to find out I couldn't be scheduled for over a week anyway. Ladies! Let your body do the work-- not some doctor and medication! YOU deliver your baby, not the doctor. Turns out, he was out of town the week of my delivery! My second pregnancy I was lazy and decided not to look for a new doctor (since Dr. Erickson wasn't there the last time and I'm confident enough to deliver with whoever is on staff). However, I suffered serious peripartum depression and anxiety during my pregnancy and every appointment I brought it up and was met with the response, "you should try going for a walk" or "well you've got it under control". Then postpartum when it wasn't getting better he and his staff were more concerned with insurance procedures than treating me, and I was told they "would prescribe me a drug until I could see my PCP, is that okay"? No. No it's not okay that you're willing to prescribe me some random drug without discussing my symptoms and concerns (I breastfeed being a huge one)! If you're looking for someone to go to just because it's necessary to do checks, but don't need any special care, go to him. But if you're looking for a doctor that will truly be concerned for your and your baby's holistic wellbeing, look elsewhere. You deserve a doctor that listens, that cares and that takes the time to help YOU, not just a patient.
