  • Walking onto Fremont and being greeted by gyrating bodies on bar counters is definitely awesome for some people...not me. Not a place to take children...or be with your parents. Yeah yeah yeah...I hear you... Vegas is not typically a place to take kids or be with mom and dad anyhow... I thought the light show would be beautiful. It wasn't. The night we went it was rock and roll music tuned to the "show" that gets broadcasted above...dome/screen that spans the entire street. The concept is amazing. To execute the presentation on the dome/screen is awesome. The music selection was a bit passe. Imagine you grew up in the 60s and 70s and did a lot of drugs...that's the ambiance...that was created with the music and the psychedelic show. THIS was the big deal? I just do not see what the hype was about...just very good marketing I suppose. I could not relate nor appreciate the experience and couldn't wait to get out of there. It's like the worse of the Venice Beach "shopping" experience without the ocean or good food to make up for the visual and auditory abuse. The high point was the Golden Nugget Hotel. It is such a pretty place with Chihuly glasswork in the reception/lobby area and the pool looked to be incredible with a shark tank. If it were not for the Fremont Street Onslaught, er, Experience - as one leaves the hotel, I might want to revisit the Golden Nugget to spend time at the pool. I would give this place 1 star however I am a big believer in not trying to kill whatever they are trying to do so 2 stars it is. If they can clean the place up a bit...and make it - feel...more family oriented, more classy...more Golden Nugget and less the fried twinkie experience - they can be on to something. I believe there is so much potential there. It just felt too raunchy, cheesy, and sketchy for me. Like I needed a good shower after leaving there.
