| - I did not expect the pastries to be from Venezuela as I walked in, but I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Rather than the traditional French pastries, what I expected, I was greeted with fresh bread filled with cheese, ham, and other delicacies.
Not being a native, the woman behind the counter (waitress?) was extremely friendly and explained each cachito, starting from the original to the best-sellers, even cutting one open and giving a taste-test to my whole family. At the end, I ordered "fromage et jambon", "épinard", "chocolat", and "goyave et fromage".
Coming from right out of the oven, the bread had a perfect balance of crispy and buttery, the inside melted and warm. Even the coffee we ordered (latte and ferrer-o-frappe) had a perfect balance of sweet and bitter.
All in all, from decorations to the environment, from customer service to the variety of pastries, I am just glad I didn't go to a traditional French pastry shop.
